We just purchased* a brand new log splitter from Johnson’s One Stop in Seneca, Wisconsin this past weekend and got right to work. After doing a bit of research we decided it was time to take our wood cutting and production up a notch. Soon we hope to have a wood stove up and running for our main source of heat and felt that this splitter would make things much easier. The model we decided to purchase is the Oregon 3000 Series and it has 30 tons of splitting force. We found that it cut the Red Elm okay but needed a bit of help from an ax due to being stringy. However, we later cut some Burr Oak and it did a nice job. Overall we are happy with our purchase so far and will report more as we learn through every day use.
